Open Book
An open book seen from the front with two blank pages and visible stacked page edges.
Here is an open book seen from the front, standing upright with its covers spread apart. Two blank pages face each other and curve gently upward, forming a soft arch across the middle. Along the lower edge you can spot several thin page edges stacked together, hinting at the thickness of the paper. Just below them sits a small oval shape that acts as the spine and the base the book rests on. No background surrounds it, so the whole sheet belongs to the book alone.
Ways to colour it
The wide, open areas leave plenty of room to work slowly and calmly. You might keep the pages in a pale cream tone, or let a light gradient drift across them. Give the cover a stronger shade so it stands out clearly against the paper.
- Cover in deep red, pages in soft ivory
- Each page a different gentle colour
- Fine lines drawn along the stacked edges
A little extra task
An empty book is an invitation. Once the outline is filled, add your own drawing or a few words onto the pages and turn the picture into a small story of your own.
Every finished book starts with a blank page.
The clean lines and quiet surfaces make this a friendly sheet for hands that are still getting comfortable with colouring. Coloured pencils give soft, blended tones, while felt tips deliver bold and even colour. Either choice suits this simple, uncluttered design well.
