Colouring ideas
Start with the astronaut and then move on to the asteroid. You can keep the spacesuit a classic white and only highlight the padded rings with a soft grey, or give it a colour you like such as blue or orange. Leave the visor light, and a small bright spot will look like a reflection. The control panel on the chest is perfect for a few bright buttons, for example red, yellow and green side by side. Shade the round craters in turns light and dark so they look like little dips.
Where does it fit?
The shapes are medium-sized, and the many round craters add smaller spots. This makes the picture a good fit for children from about five years. It suits a space day at nursery, a project week at school or a calm hour at home, and at a birthday party with a space theme every child can colour their own astronaut. Asteroids are lumps of rock that travel around the Sun. Most of them move in a wide belt between Mars and Jupiter. Many carry craters formed when other rocks crashed into them.
Try counting how many craters you can spot on the asteroid, and imagine what the astronaut would see when looking down.
